I redesigned and rebuilt the react.com site in the summer of 2001. react.com was a high-profile teen site aimed at teens ages 13-17. I designed and developed the most recent site from the bottom up and wrote and edited many pieces of audience-appropriate content. The site was based on different kinds of question-and-answer activities, such as quizzes, polls, and advice; much of the content was supplied by the users themselves, and at its best the site provided an important forum in which teens could speak their minds and ask the questions they wouldn’t or couldn’t ask offline.
The site ran on an ASP platform with a SQL Server backend. In addition to designing and building the public site, I created a range of flexible, database-driven administration tools to facilitate site maintenance.
