I designed and implemented the website for Amherst College in the summer of 2000.

Amherst College, located in Amherst MA, is one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges. In the summer of 2000, I led the redesign of the college website. Working closely with the Public Affairs Office, I developed a comprehensive site tying into the college’s admission and alumni materials, and designed an award-winning Javascript-powered¬†online campus tour¬†(amazingly, still available, though admittedly something of a relic). The site retained my design through 2005 and was consistently identified by students, alumni, and focus groups as one of the best college sites on the web.

The website was primarily static HTML, with a few dynamic elements coded in PHP and extensive use of javascript in the viewbook and campus tour. I also created a Perl-based CGI script to help non-technical College employees create and edit pages within the standard site templates.
