Elza Rabinowitz

Please welcome Elza Marie Rabinowitz, 7lb 12oz, born October 6, 2009 at 12:39 a.m. in Oakland, CA. She is beautiful and has a surprisingly full head of dark hair, and both she and her mother are healthy and happy to be home. We can’t wait to get to know her better!

We had a small baby shower last week that was more like a baby party – coed, potluck, in the evening, with plentiful booze. Our awesome friends Nicole and Myrrhia hosted, which was really sweet, and both my parents and Star’s mom were in attendance. I made brisket and shell beans and guacamole, Star made great lemon pound cake, and many other tasty dishes were supplied by various guests.

It was a better party than photo op, so there isn’t much to post – but thanks so much to everyone who came!

In August we went to a wedding in Massachusetts, staying with my parents and visiting our friends Matt and Alison and their new baby Petra in Cambridge.

After we came back, Star’s sister Marie came out to visit. She has a lot of nice photos from the trip on her Flickr page.

A couple of weekends ago we picked some of the plums by our house and made way too much jam.

So I guess we’re starting a family blog. Also, a family :). As you probably know, we’re expecting a baby girl in early October. We’ll try to keep this page updated, mostly with photos. Maybe you should subscribe with your favorite RSS reader? Or just check back occasionally?
